Messkirch Castle

Messkirch Castle is reputed to be the earliest quadrangular castle complex north of the Alps. Its main showpiece is the Renaissance ceremonial hall with its original coffered ceiling. Today the castle is frequently the impressive setting for a wide diversity of events. The rooms can also be hired for private functions and seminars. In fine weather the adjoining Court Garden is an inviting place to stroll and relax.


Museum enthusiasts in particular will be in their element at Messkirch Castle. Lovers of old cars will be enthralled by the Classic Car Museum in the castle's former coach house. The District Art Gallery in the south wing exhibits the impressive art collections of the borough of Sigmaringen, while the east wing contains yet another museum documenting the life and work of the famous philosopher Martin Heidegger.
